Knizhnica, literally translated as "book depository", is a rare and handmade books preservation project. Since the early 60-s, when the typewriters got cheap enough for the general public, Russian poets and writers started creating and distributing handmade books of various kinds. Today, most ofthem are lost. This website is a project to preserve the remaining books, scanning each one page by page, and putting online in the PDF format.Each book is free to download and distribute without author's permission.

This is my solo project that I have been commited to since last summer. Today I have scanned over 40 books, and about half of them is already on the website. In addition to titles, the website also features vintage newspapers and magazines about literature, including copies of some issues from early 20-th century, |
